In 2007 Steve Saleen and fellow racer Pamelli Jones created a limited edition version of the Mustang. This vehicle was created to pay homage to the Boss 302 that Parnelli Jones had raced in the 1970′s. The vehicle was released with a Saleen V8 engine that produced 400 horsepower. The outside of the vehicle had a new front fascia, the Saleen ‘shaker’ hood, window louvers and custom wheels. There were only five hundred of these vehicles ever released.
The Saleen Mustangs have become famous world wide with the use of a 2007 Saleen S281 used in the movie Transformers. The car was used for the character Barricade. It was a police car in the movie. This led to the car being in high demand.
